That Damn Elevator!
Binkley Beardman
Smoke is pouring in through the cracks of the front door, a harbinger of the fire to follow! You've got to think quick! (Good thing thinking is your thing, you think king!) Test game made in an afternoon for yucks and practice.
Mini-Zork II
Dave Lebling, Marc Blank
A refurbished version of the work-in-progress, never-released Mini-Zork II found in Infocom's archives. Primarily restored by Torbjörn Andersson. Compared to the full game, the map and some of the puzzles have been simplified and much of the text has been shortened. The Bank of Zork and Oddly-angled rooms have been dropped completely, and the Wizard has lost a few of his spells. Expect the unexpected when you take on Zork II: The Wizard of Frobozz. As you explore the subterranean realm of Zork, you'll continually be confronted with new surprises. Chief among these is the Wizard himself, who'll constantly endeavor to confound you with his capricious powers. But more than that, you'll face a challenge the likes of which you've never experienced before.
British Fox and the Celebrity Abductions
Lucilla Frost
Adrift version released in 2004; TADS version released in 2005. Welcome to the British Institute, sister organisation to Superheroinecentral's United States branch. Here is where British Fox, a.k.a. Eleanore Windsor, and her sexy companions spend their time inbetween saving the Empire....errr Commonwealth from the fiendish plots of those that would destroy it. Mathilda Windsor, the Controller of the British wing of the Institute, undoubtedly has a task for her; her primary mission will be completed when she reports back to Mathilda after successfully achieving her objectives. It is possible to achieve all of Mathilda's goals without being injured or captured (though where's the fun in that?) although a maximum score can only be achieved through capture and escape. With one exception resemblances to real people are coincidental (Bev Cocks is real and her website is worth a look if you're interested in ordinary porn). This is a fantasy and should be treated entirely as such; kidnap and rape aren't entertaining in real life but in real life women can't fly and bend steel with their bare hands either. All feedback gratefully received to LucillaFrost@yahoo.co.uk. This is my first attempt at a TADS adventure and it is a port from an ADRIFT version. It would never have been completed without the support and assitance of Abomire, my master and teacher. I have used Sir Gareth's sex.t library which has been extremely helpful, even if I don't actually understand most of it. I have relied heavily on Richard Gillingham for playtesting, many thanks for his persistence and patience. Any remaining quirks and sequencing errors are entirely my own responsibility. Thanks also due to my original playtesters. xx Lucilla

GET CORN
Joey Tanden
"Last month, I had a weird day and cranked out an extremely short game in about 12 hours. Part of it was catharsis, and part of it was to test my reusable code module. One of my friends managed to get through this game in less than 10 minutes. It deals a lot with surrealism, and is maybe the IF equivalent of a s#!tpost. It’s also technically adult IF, but you can absolutely complete the game without finding any of the adult elements. I just added a bunch of really silly actions for anyone who is really committed to the bit, which then necessitated an unexpected level of mechanical implementation." -Joey Tanden, October 3rd, 2023 Cover art by catherine
Stalling for Time
Dominic Delabruere
You and Kerouac are both at least nominally from Lowell. And you’re both from Québécois families. But the similarity ends about there. What you need, he said, is “the energy of a benny addict.” He had it, and you don’t. What you do have, at long last, is the use of a car and enough cash to fuel it all the way to the West. Never mind that these things are only yours for the moment. (Please note that this is the drastically incomplete IntroComp version of Stalling for Time, meant only as an introduction to a much longer, more complete game to follow.)
Dark Pit
Andy Kosela
You remember the red night in fragments: the reek of wine, the clash of bronze cups, and the laughter of thieves beneath the smoke-black rafters of the Wolf's Jaw. A woman with eyes like wet jet had sold you a map to the buried vaults of old Khoraz, where kings before history sealed their tribute under stone and curse. You followed it through alleys foul with mist, and there the city watch came on you like hounds. Steel flashed. Men died. Then a club, black and sudden as doom, broke the world into sparks. You woke with blood dried in your hair and iron on your wrists. They named you murderer, grave-robber, and spy, though the dead had drawn first. By dawn they flung you into this pit below the keep, where the stones sweat and rats whisper in the straw. Yet the map is not lost. Its last sign burns in your memory: a black shrine beneath the prison, and a jewel men called the Night-Eye. If the gods have not spat you out entirely, you may yet break your chains, find the jewel, and carve a road back to the moonlit world. --- DarkZIL is a compact ZIL-based framework for building old-school Infocom-style text adventure games targeting Atari 8-bit systems and other Z-machine interpreters. It provides a small, conservative foundation for parser commands, room navigation, inventory, objects, conversations, combat, attributes, dice handling, and classic adventure mechanics while keeping the code simple enough for constrained 8-bit targets. The included demo adventure, DarkPit, shows how DarkZIL can be used in practice to create a playable sword-and-sorcery dungeon game with puzzles, NPCs, RPG-style attributes, and Atari-friendly Z3 compatibility.

Mathbrush
Time is running out after a meteor strikes your interstellar starship. While the crew is under full alert, only you seem to notice the strange red portals opening up throughout the ship. Counterfeit Monkey
Emily Short
Anglophone Atlantis has been an independent nation since an April day in 1822, when a well-aimed shot from their depluralizing cannon reduced the British colonizing fleet to one ship. Since then, Atlantis has been the world's greatest center for linguistic manipulation, designing letter inserters, word synthesizers, the diminutive affixer, and a host of other tools for converting one thing to another. Inventors worldwide pay heavily for that technology, which is where a smuggler and industrial espionage agent such as yourself can really clean up. Unfortunately, the Bureau of Orthography has taken a serious interest in your activities lately. Your face has been recorded and your cover is blown. Your remaining assets: about eight more hours of a national holiday that's spreading the police thin; the most inconvenient damn disguise you've ever worn in your life; and one full-alphabet letter remover. Good luck getting off the island.

How Prince Quisborne the Feckless Shook His Title
John Ziegler
A Fanciful Tale Both Whimsical and Earnest It was supposed to be really straightforward: take the king's mollycoddled heir under your capable wing, get him away from the castle, and turn him into Noble Ruler material within the space a year or so. Well, you still have to do that... but thanks to the limerick-loving prince's romantic attachment to a princess with an unwilling father, now it sounds like the agenda includes investigating old legends that speak of a haunted fastness in the North--legends that might lead you all the way to the Overworld. So much the better! This new twist should provide plenty of challenge and adventure for you to ply the pampered prince with along the way; and fortunately, you have an ample amount of time to accomplish your objectives and try to shape the prince into something more--as he would say--*feckful*... (Author highly recommends playing with QTads interpreter; otherwise, content/features are missing and formatting may be unsightly. "Readthrough" mode provided for those shy of parser or puzzly games.)
You Are Standing
Aaron A. Reed
A bonus text game created specifically for the Ultimate Collector's Edition of 50 Years of Text Games; initially, available exclusively to backers on 3.5" floppy disc and/or as a download. The game was designed to fit in the less than 90K of space remaining on the floppy disk after the text of the book was added. It uses the PunyInform library and a number of space-saving authoring techniques to achieve this goal. The game explores six different styles of text games from across the medium's history, and tells a story about legacies and love.
Gaia, Živa, Jarilo
Harkness (as Formless)
In this work, you are an Earthling tourist visiting a zoo on Živa which features animals from three worlds. Explore the place at your leisure. There is no goal you must accomplish, and although the work has its secrets, the only puzzle you must solve is the mundane exercise of buying a wristband at the entrance.
Anchorhead
Michael Gentry
You take a deep breath of salty air as the first raindrops begin to spatter the pavement, and the swollen, slate-colored clouds that blanket the sky mutter ominous portents amongst themselves over the little coastal town of Anchorhead.

Travel to the haunted coastal town of Anchorhead, Massachusetts and uncover the roots of a horrific conspiracy inspired by the works of H. P. Lovecraft. Search through musty archives and tomes of esoteric lore; dodge hostile townsfolk; combat a generation-spanning evil that threatens your family and the entire world.

The original version was and remains freely available.
To mark the twentieth anniversary of its initial publication, Anchorhead is now available in a special Illustrated Edition. Every aspect of the game has been rebuilt and redesigned from the ground up:

  • Additional puzzles, scenes, and background information to explore.
  • Decorated with over 50 gorgeous illustrations by Carlos Cara Àlvarez.
